About this role

Job summary

Advanced Therapies Wales (ATW) is a Velindre University NHS Trust (VUNHST) hosted Programme based in the Welsh Blood Service (WBS), to support the NHS Wales wide adoption of cell & gene advanced therapies and delivery of Welsh Government's Advanced Therapies Statement of Intent, through the Delivery Plan for Advanced Therapies in Wales.

The Project Manager will play a crucial role supporting and providing:

High quality Project Management and Support within the ATW Programme to ensure a successful delivery of key initiatives within the Delivery Plan for Advanced Therapies in Wales

The successful applicant will need to establish credibility with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and have the required strategic, planning and performance management skills to support the delivery of the Delivery Plan for Advanced Therapies in Wales.

Under the direction of the ATW / MW-ATTC Head of programmes, the Project manager will be responsible for proactively contributing to project planning and delivery, support the Head of Programmes.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 10 months till March 2027 due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job

A summary of the key requirements and responsibilities of the post are listed below:

Ensure successful delivery of projects and sub projects, ensuring the required products are delivered to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.

Responsible for refining and improving project documentation

Support the Head of Programmes ensuring the project producing results capable of achieving the benefits as defined in the Delivery Plan for Advanced Therapies in Wales.

Responsible for ensuring project timelines are adhered to, robust reporting is in place and risks / issues are managed and escalated when appropriate

Applicants must be able to demonstrate sound judgement in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a professional climate is maintained throughout, despite the time pressure and inevitable challenges

Applicants must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Projects and be able to maximise the use of technology in making the project run smoothly and efficiently.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience Prince 2 Foundation (formal or informal, or willing to work towards attainment) Evidence of further development - Postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience

Experience Essential

Previous experience of planning and managing work packages or projects with low complexity with successful delivery within time and cost Good knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to master new applications Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects, e.g. PRINCE2 Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures

Desirable

Experience of working in Healthcare Experience and understanding of information management and technology issues within the healthcare environment Experience and understanding of change and configuration management, and information management and technology issues within the within the project environment Knowledge of procurement process, including contract negotiations

Skills and Attributes Essential

Delivered in a project environment Demonstrable Team management skills Track record of problem solving in a project management environment Competent in the use of desktop applications Good report drafting skills and action point recording Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Project Team, stakeholders and third-party service providers involved in the delivery of the projects Capable of understanding the wider objectives of the Project

Desirable

Welsh Language Skills are desirable at level 1 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
