Job summary
We are inviting applications to the PAN London Strabismus and Paediatric ophthalmology fellowship positions which are available to start on 1st February 2027.
We will be appointing to the 3 full time posts which will involve comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus training for a fixed term period of 18 months.
During the term of the post candidates will complete three 6 monthly rotations across each site; Moorfields Eye Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.
Applicants are required to hold FRCOphth or equivalent. Post-holders will be required to be registered with the General Medical Council by commencement of the role.
Main duties of the job
Provide High Quality Care to Patients
The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice.
To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
Participate in clinical audit and incident reporting
To ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to
To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary teamAdhere to Trust/departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.

Job description Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will be exposed to a wide range of all types of ocular motility disorder and appropriate surgery. There will be wide exposure to paediatric ophthalmology including the management and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity, paediatric cataract, paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and paediatric retinal and genetic diseases.
There is extensive experience of adult motility including the use of botulinum toxin.
During the term of the post candidates will complete three 6 monthly rotations across each site; Moorfields Eye Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.

Person Specification
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS Essential
FRCOphth or MRCP or equivalent CCT in Ophthalmology or equivalent ophthalmic training (or be within 6 months of CCT date). Full GMC Registration (with a 'Licence to Practise'). Be on or eligible for the GMC specialist register
Desirable
Higher Degree (e.g. MD or PhD).
FURTHER TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE Essential
Experience of paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus or neuro-ophthalmology
Desirable
Completed Higher Specialist Training in ophthalmology
SKILLS & ABILITY Essential
High degree of clinical skill in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus
