Job summary

Environmental Waste Operative (x2) - Full Time (37.5 Hours)

We are looking to recruit two full-time Environmental Waste Operatives to join our team based at the Aintree site. This is a varied and hands-on role, supporting the safe and efficient management of waste across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Collection and transportation of clinical, domestic, offensive, and linen waste from ward areas to the waste compound Segregation of waste into the correct waste streams in line with environmental and healthcare regulations Supporting the waste recycling function, including segregation of: WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Furniture Metal Cardboard About You

Physically fit and able to handle heavy loads on a regular basis Able to work both independently and as part of a team Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is desirable, but not essential Working Pattern (4-Week Rolling Roster)

Week 1: Monday to Friday - 07:30 to 15:30 Week 2: Monday to Friday - 10:00 to 18:00 Week 3: Wednesday to Friday - 10:00 to 18:00Saturday & Sunday - 07:30 to 15:30 Week 4: Monday, Tuesday & Friday - 10:00 to 18:00Saturday & Sunday - 09:00 to 17:00

Main duties of the job

1. Collect all hospital waste and laundry in accordance with the schedules set by the Environmental Services Supervisor.2. Segregate, transport and process specific categories of waste as dictated by the Trust's "Policy for the Management of Waste".3. To operate the Trust's electric vehicles, bulk waste compaction machines.4. To ensure that all aspects of the Waste Permit Conditions are adhered to.5. Place specific categories of waste in the appropriate skip for off site disposal or recycling, as indicated by the Environmental Services Supervisor.6. Cleaning of bulk waste storage areas and waste containers as per schedule determined by the Environmental Services Supervisor.7. Carry out external environmental duties, as per schedule including the collection of litter, emptying of bins.8. Carry out inspections of all mobile equipment used.

9. Follow the incident reporting procedure in the event of accidents occurring during environmental activities.11. To carry out any other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be delegated.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE or other qualifications/equivalent Electric Vehicle Driver License or pass an electric vehicle course.

Desirable

Environmental qualifications Full UK Drivers Licence

Experience of waste management / handling activities Experience of operating electric vehicles or other plant
