Job summary

Band 7, or Band 6 Development Post

We are seeking a driven and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Benign Gynaecology team. This full-time role is open to experienced Band 7 CNS applicants and nurse hysteroscopists, as well as Band 6 nurses looking for a supported development pathway into a Band 7 position.

In this role, you will support patients referred with a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions, including menopausal issues, menstrual disorders, and pelvic pain. You will provide expert assessment, continuity of care, and specialist advice throughout the patient journey.

A key part of the role includes coordinating and running the Benign Gynaecology MDT, ensuring timely case discussion, effective communication across the multidisciplinary team, and high-quality, patient-centred decision-making.

The post also offers the opportunity to train and work as a Nurse Hysteroscopist, contributing to the development of our expanding nurse-led services.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications Essential

NMC Level 1 Registered Nurse. Relevant post-registration qualification. An advanced practitioner through formal qualification (eg: degree).

Desirable

Relevant Gynaecology Course

Experience and knowledge Essential

Extensive relevant and demonstrable clinical experience pertinent to specialty area. Experience of running research and audit programmes.

Desirable

Demonstrable experience in benign gynaecology (menopause, menstrual disorders and pelvic pain management) and nurse hysteroscopy. Proven experience of service development.

Skills and abilities Essential

Advanced clinical assessment skills. Clinical assessment skills (Band 6) Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding. Basic counselling skills. Strong leadership skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literacy. Leadership skills. (Band 6)

Desirable

Project management skills. Menopause knowledge- or willingness to undertake training Nurse hysteroscopy course or willingness to undertake the training (Band 7) Willingness to undertake the nurse hysteroscopist training (Band 6)

Personal Qualities Essential

Ability to build up a rapport with patients and the MDT. Patient centred approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
