You will need to be a qualified and registered nurse or midwife. You will study at level 7 for 52 weeks with a balance of half time in practice and half with the university.
One of our current SCPHN Health visitor students reports she is having A great experience training to be a Health Visitor with the 0-5 health visiting service in Tower Hamlets. Health Visitors and the wider skill mix team are very supportive. The Infant Feeding Lead and Practice Education Facilitator offer regular learning sessions. A positive relationship between GP Care Group and City St Georges University enhances the learning experience

Main duties of the job
Interviews will be conducted jointly with GP Care Group and City St Georges University. To be held on week beginning 01/06/26 or 08/06/26.
Health Visitors are the leaders of the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme offering a four-level service model with community, universal, targeted and specialist services to children from pre-birth to 5 years old and their families
You will add value at every contact with a young person and/or family, addressing the main public health needs of the Borough, working closely with the local authorities, GP Practices, and other partners to improve outcomes for our children and young people.

To provide the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) with a learning environment which will enable the student to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies to take on the role of a qualified SCPHN within a defined pathway.
To gain the knowledge and skills and competence required in order to exercise higher levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care focusing on four broad areas:
Clinical practice
Community Engagement
Clinical practice development Leadership in clinical practice
The post of the SCPHN Sponsorship Student is a development post building on existing knowledge, skills, and competencies to achieve a higher level of practice resulting in an academic qualification as well as a recordable/registerable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The SCPHN course is studied at Level 7 for Post-Graduate Diploma. Applicants will have a second class or above (2:2 classification) honours degree in a relevant subject from an approved higher education institution. Clinically experienced, health professionals without a degree who have evidence of masters level CPPD (level 7) study undertaken within the last five years will also be considered.
The applicant must be registered with the NMC for a minimum period of 1 year prior to application. Key working relationships

Main duties and responsibilities
The fundamental responsibilities of the post holder are to attain the academic credentials and the clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on a defined pathway. These are summarised below:
To fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Practitioner programme by attending university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with University regulations.
To work with the SSSA/supervisor and assessors to develop the skills and competencies to achieve NMC Registration Standards for Specialist Community Practice.
With the support of the SSSA/supervisor to link and apply and evidence delivery of theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation.
To demonstrate an understanding of current and emerging national, regional and local healthcare legislation, policies and guidelines as they pertain to the chosen pathway.
