Job summary
Applications are welcomed from specialist registrars training in adult cardiology and with the necessary experience to take up sub-speciality training in percutaneous intervention. The successful fellow can expect to work in the cath lab for 7 sessions per week. A middle grade out of hours service provides 24/7 SpR level cover and the post-holder will be expected to contribute to this on a 1:10 basis and to ward cover on a 1:10 basis.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will receive advanced training in percutaneous coronary intervention in both acute and stable patients. The successful applicant can expect to perform 300-400 first operator PCIs during the period of training at QA Hospital. FFR, IVUS,OCT and rotablation are routinely available for use. There is an established CTO program. There will be a weekly outpatient clinic for complex PCI patients and the postholder will be responsible for running a weekly angio review session as well as preparing the cardiac surgical MDT.

Opportunities to participate in pacemaker implantation, device implantation, TOE etc will be scheduled into the timetable if required but are not expected.
There is an active research unit and the successful applicant will be encouraged to support ongoing trials and also to develop their own research interests. It is expected that the successful candidate will submit abstracts to major national and international cardiology meetings.
It is recognised that audit and assessment of quality and patient experience are essential for optimal service delivery and these form an integral component of this position.
