Job summary

Pharmacist Education & Training Lead - Fixed Term (12 Months)

We're looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic pharmacist to take the lead on education and training within our pharmacy department at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, part of Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist who is passionate about developing people and shaping the future pharmacy workforce. You'll provide leadership for pharmacist education and training, supporting colleagues at all stages of their careers and playing a key role in delivering and developing the Foundation Pharmacist Training pathway. Strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine commitment to personal and professional development are essential.

Alongside your education and training remit, you'll maintain a clinical role as part of a small, friendly and highly respected pharmacy team working across the emergency floor. This balance offers both strategic influence and hands-on clinical practice in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at the Broomfield Hospital site, where you will:

lead on pharmacist education and training be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will work to provide excellent care to patients in acute medicine and frailty. help to improve patient care through effective medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. The role will also include ensuring protocols and guidelines are in line with local and national objectives to ensure cost-effective and safe prescribing within the department. have excellent communication and negotiating skills working closely with patients and multi-professional teams throughout the emergency floor. be able to work under pressure and alone with excellent prioritisation skills. be a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice.

The successful applicant will contribute to the pharmacist on-call service and the 7-day clinical pharmacy service to the emergency floor, which will involve working weekends (8am to 4pm) with flexible days off during the week in return

Qualifications Essential

Registered pharmacist Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent experience) Independent prescriber

Desirable

Post graduate education and training qualification

Recent demonstrable NHS experience Recent acute NHS Hospital experience

Experience of working within acute/emergency care

Experience of being a Designated Supervisor Experience of delivering education and training to a range of staff groups
