Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for a Band 2 Operating Department Orderly to support our friendly and enthusiastic theatre teams.
Our main theatre suite comprises of eight operating theatres and one recovery unit. We cover a wide range of surgical specialties.
Main duties of the job
The Operating Department Orderly role plays a vital role in the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. The Operating Department Orderly's role is to support the nursing and medical teams in ensuring the safe and timely transfer of patients between ward areas and the operating department.
You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe environment, ensuring stock is checked and maintained, assist in the movement of equipment and materials within the department and sterile services. You must have good verbal and written communication skills, be flexible and have acceptance of line management.
Previous experience working in the operating theatre and/or experience within a hospital environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
