Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) to join our maternity team at the Rosie.

This is a key leadership and support role focused on enhancing the quality of care, supporting midwives for promoting a positive working environment through the A-EQUIP model (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement).

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

o Provide restorative clinical supervision to midwives and maternity staffo Support continuous professional development and reflective practiceo Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within maternity serviceso Promote safe, evidence-based practice and a culture of learningo Offer guidance and support in complex clinical and professional situationso Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for women and families

About You

o Registered Midwife with current professional registrationo Qualified Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA)o Significant post-registration experience in midwifery practiceo Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skillso Passionate about staff wellbeing, development, and high-quality patient careo Ability to facilitate reflective discussions and support practice improvement

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered midwife Qualified PMA Educated to BSc level or equivalent Is a qualified sign off mentor and has undertaken their mentorship training ECDL or equivalent experience Evidence of CPD Management skills including chairing meetings, presentations, report writing, managing change, performance management. A thorough understanding of the NMC Code (2015). An appreciation of strategic issues affecting health and health care provision Knowledge of clinical governance and its implementation.

Desirable

Has been appointed as a Supervisor of Midwives. Educated to MSc level

Experience Essential

Demonstrable experience of broad knowledge of midwifery practice and supervision of midwives Demonstrable well-developed leadership skills Professional credibility with senior colleagues, and Midwives. Proven track record of a leadership role Possession of well-developed negotiation, networking and communication skills Experience of working as part of a team and can demonstrate principles of effective team working Experience of working autonomously in planning and organising own diary Experience of working with a wide range of disparate individuals

Desirable

Experience of a PMA lead or has experience of working as a PMA Experience of quality improvement methodology Experience of band 7 midwife

Knowledge Essential

Evidence of gathering, analysing, interpreting and disseminating in-depth information. Knowledge of issues of confidentiality and demonstrate appropriateness in dealing with sensitive personal, patient and corporate information.

Skills Essential

Evidence of working in a complex environment and coping with competing priorities. Evidence of being able to manage her own diary via Microsoft Outlook, organise and manage meetings as a PMA Demonstrate IT skills in using applications e.g. Word, PowerPoint and Excel spreadsheets Evidence of excellent skills in report writing

Additional Requirements Essential
