Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Adult SLT Assistant Fixed Term Contract until 13.07.2027 to cover Maternity Leave.
This role is suited to someone with experience in working in a hospital setting and is an excellent communication and who is confident to work with adults with communication/speech difficulties as well as difficulties with eating and drinking. You will be asked to deliver therapy programmes under the guidance of a qualified speech and language therapist as well as providing administrative support for the safe delivery of our special menus and other speech and language therapy needs for patients. You will also be required to conduct telephone handovers as needed. You will be a strong team player who is able to provide supervised support to the speech and language therapy team and the people we work with. It is ideal if the successful candidate has experience of working with people who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties, but the team are happy to support these skills if needed.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties: Managing the special (IDDSI) menu administration; conducting discharge outreach calls under the direction of a qualified SLT; delivering therapy programmes to ward patients under the direction of a qualified SLT; Provide communication/conversation opportunities for patients on wards; to support in delivery of communication groups on wards and for communication hub as needed; ensure that discharge information and resources as well as relevant patient information leaflets are well-stocked and up to date.
