Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our established 33-bedded Diabetes & Endocrinology ward at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a specialist medical ward delivering high-quality care to patients with complex diabetes and endocrine conditions alongside acute medical co-morbidities. Our patient group includes individuals requiring management of DKA, insulin pump therapy, variable rate insulin infusions, complex medication optimisation and structured patient education to support safe discharge.
This is a dynamic and rewarding clinical environment that will strengthen your acute assessment skills, medicines management competence and confidence in complex case management.

Main duties of the job

Develop specialist knowledge in diabetes and endocrine medicine Strengthen acute medical nursing skills within a supportive environment Build confidence in insulin management and medicines optimisation Contribute to patient education and self-management initiatives Participate in quality improvement and governance activities Progress within a ward that actively supports career development Newly qualified nurses are welcome and will receive structured preceptorship support.
