Job summary
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic band 6 Nurse who is committed to personal professional development to join our team in Jenner Ward - Cardiology Unit. The successful candidate will need to be committed to providing a high standard of patient care and will work alongside other members of the team to achieve a high standard in the Key Performance Indicators.
Main duties of the job
Jenner Ward is a busy and dynamic 34 bedded Cardiology Ward that is situated and works very closely with the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Cardiac Day Care Unit. Jenner Ward comprises of a 10 - bedded Chest Pain Assessment Unit with 8 cardiac monitors and an 8 - bedded Heart Failure Unit, with the rest of the beds being made of general cardiology.
Patients on the ward undergo procedures such as Angiogram, Angioplasty, Rotablation, Pacemaker insertion and Internal Loop Recorder insertion.
As the band 6 on Jenner Ward you will support the clinical nurse manager in delivering high quality care to the patients on Jenner ward and be actively involved in audit and improving care. You will also be responsible for coordinating the ward and ensuring smooth patient flow in the absence of the clinical nurse manager.
You will need sufficient experience in a relevant specialist area, a teaching qualification and a relevant post graduate course.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications Essential
1.Sufficient experience as a Staff Nurse in a relevant practice area 2.Educated to degree level or desire to do so. 3.Teaching/mentorship qualification 4.Evidence of continuing professional development. 5.Currently Registered with NMC.
Knowledge & Experience Essential
1.Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). 2.Demonstrate expertise in advanced clinical skills and application 3.Ability to relate well to all groups of people and to create and maintain effective working relationships within the team and externally 4.Basic ECG interpretation and cardiac monitoring
Desirable
1.ILS training 2.Pre and post care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures

1.Self-motivated and able to motivate a team 2.Reliable work record 3. Leadership skills and experience
