Job summary We are recruiting a part time Peer Recovery and Wellbeing Worker (14.8 hours per week/2 days) to join our Step Down Team in Wells to support individuals leaving hospital to transition back to independence. The Step Down Service work with clients in a shared living, supported accommodation setting, on their journey from acute services to their own accommodation. Coproducing strength-based, individual recovery plans that provide strategies to; better manage their mental health, identify warning signs, build resilience and nurture positive relationships. From the moment someone moves in, the focus will be on life after move on and building practical living skills to support independence and wellbeing.
Main duties of the job Support will be provided through 1:1 and group sessions on site at the accommodation. Beyond their stay at the Step Down house, we will engage with local partners and our wider Open Mental Health VCSE Alliance (OMHVA) support offer to ensure sustained positive outcomes.

About you You will: Be passionate about improving the lived experience and health of people using mental health services. Have proven knowledge of support needs of people with mental health needs. IT skills including ability to produce various documents in Word, and use of email and internet.

Co-produce, implement and review recovery plans, risk management plans to support each client in leading their journey at a pace that is right for them, and review progress with them on a regular basis.
Support individuals to settle into the home of their choosing and be part of their local community, accessing services that they are entitled to and benefit and interest them, increasing their choice and control.
Support individuals to explore and access hobbies and interests, as part of developing well-being and meaningful connections.
Support individuals, where appropriate, to have a clear focus on training and access to paid work.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
A minimum of two years significant experience working with people with moderate to severe mental health needs. Proven experience of working within a housing environment. Experience of working with people who have experienced multiple disadvantages (e.g. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency long term conditions) Experience of working with people with long-term mental health and complex needs including complex trauma, Learning Difficulties, neurodiverse needs and SEND. Experience of carrying out needs and/or risk assessments and the support planning process. You will be practiced at working alongside people using a holistic approach tailored to each individuals needs Experience of time management and competing priorities when supporting people with complex needs.
