Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1 x part-time Qualified Paramedic to join us on an job-share basis at Ilkeston Ambulance Station in Derbyshire. The successful candidate will work a managed rota, working 0.5 FTE of a rota line. Contracted to 18.75 hrs per week.
You will respond to emergency and urgent patients using advanced driving skills and utilising visual (blue lights) and audible (sirens) warnings. To transport patients, relatives and carers to other care providers whilst driving at both normal road speed and/or emergency conditions.
You will act in accordance with EMAS clinical policies, procedures, protocols and patient group directives and adhere to and promote EMAS values whilst dealing with patients, carers, relatives, ambulance service colleagues and colleagues from other emergency services

Main duties of the job
Paramedics respond to critical emergency and urgent situations, delivering high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and patient transportation, responding to 999 emergencies, inter-hospital transfers and urgent hospital admissions.
Working in a crew or solo, a paramedic will use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to and transport emergency and routine patients as required.
In an emergency, you will use high-tech equipment, such as defibrillators (which can restore the heart's rhythm), spinal and traction splints and intravenous drips, as well as administering oxygen and drugs. You will deal with a range of different people and situations, working shifts, in all weathers.
You will hold a current up to date HCPC registration.
You hold a full clean driving licence with a C1 category (applicants with a minor speeding offense may be considered, with no more than 3 points).
You will need to provide evidence that you have completed a qualification allowing you to drive under blue light conditions in a C1 size vehicle (examples, IHCD D1/D2 or Futurequals Emergency Ambulance Driving
About us
The post holder will report to the Station Manager and the Tactical Commander for the locality. The Divisional Senior Clinical Leader will also support with their development and the Head of Operations oversees the locality.
The social element of the role will involve working in a positive team that supports each other. The DSCL will also run regular training sessions to cover all aspects of the role.

To adopt a proactive approach to the compliance with all policies, procedures and clinical guidelines as dictated by the trust ensuring you keep within the scope of practice of a HCPC paramedic.
Maintain professional registration and fully comply with the HCPC standards of proficiency and the standards of conduct, performance and ethics at all times.
Attend mandatory education courses that are essential for maintaining professional registration and/or organisational development.
To ensure a continuous duty of care to patients as required by local policies and the relevant HCPC standards and act within the defined scope of practice applicable to the role. Ensuring the patient is continually and safely monitored until the patient is transferred to the care of another health care provider or discharged into the care of the safety netting provider.
Carries out daily vehicle and equipment checks ensuring any defects are promptly reported in line with locally agreed policies. Ensures equipment stock levels are within trust guidelines and that equipment is safe and ready to use. Ensure all drugs that the post holder is responsible for are in date and sealed and that all paperwork is filled out correctly. Any discrepancies should be reported to a line manager as soon as is possible dependant on operational demand.
