About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join Bromley East ADAPT (Anxiety, Depression, Affective disorders, Personality disorders & Trauma) a secondary care multidisciplinary service providing care for people living in the Borough of Bromley.

You will have a passion for working in multidisciplinary teams supporting people with complex emotional needs, including histories of trauma, emotional regulation and interpersonal difficulties.

You will join a dynamic and skilled Psychological Therapies Team comprised of clinical and counselling psychologists, cognitive behavioural therapist, art therapist, assistant psychologist, as well as trainees.

The service offers a range of modalities including full dual modality MBT, CBT, CAT, CFT, EMDR, psychodynamic psychotherapy, art therapy and MBCT. Specialist modality specific supervisions are available within the service and across the trust.

The team also work closely with the wider MDT to provide Structured Clinical Management (SCM). New developments over recent years include the introduction of a Compassion Focussed Therapy Group, and a 'Coping with trauma' group to support individuals awaiting trauma processing therapy.

This post is suitable for newly qualified psychologists, and qualified psychologists on fixed term contracts, or those looking to diversify into broad modality adult mental health.

Main duties of the job

The role involves a variety of duties including psychological assessments, individual and family therapy interventions, brief psychoeducation groups, longer term groups (up to 18 months). Oxleas follows an MDT approach and a central part of the post will include liaison and coworking across the professions and the system. Opportunities for development of specialist interests will be encouraged, as well as supervision of trainee psychologists and other junior staff.

Clinical:

To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the Bromley East ADAPT teams based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and Integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures. rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured Interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems and offending behaviour, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework or the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence or efficacy, across the full range or care setting To be responsible for Implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers. families and groups, within and across teams employed Individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining several provisional hypotheses. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan. To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework or understanding and care to the benefit of all clients or the service, across all settings and agencies To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management To act as care coordinator, where appropriate, taking responsibility for including planning and review of care plans under enhanced CPA Including clients, their carers, referring agents and others Involved the network of care To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, Information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni and multi-disciplinary care.
