About this role

Job summary

The post-holder(s) will work cross site (RDH/QHB) and perform the majority of in patient and clinic duties there, with flexible cath lab sessions and out patients clinics at the RDH site/ QHB site, and full participation in the MDT structure.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of a high-quality cardiology service as a member of UHDB team of 17 Consultant Cardiologists. Will participate in 1:7-8 PPCI rota and regular PCI sessions at Royal Derby Hospital. Participate in the rota for care of inpatients on CCU and other wards.

Participation in Consultant Cardiology of the week and non-resident on-call rota. Attend the regular Imaging, Devices and Interventional MDT meetings at Burton and Derby and with colleagues from the tertiary centre. Carry out cardiology clinics across UHDB and community hospitals.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBBS or equivalent MRCP or equivalent higher qualification Life support Qualifications (BLS/ALS) Suitable to work at Consultant Level

Desirable

Additional higher medical/scientific degree relevant to the specialty Training Qualification

Eligibility Essential

Full GMC Registration with licence to practice

Desirable

Eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology

Clinical Skills Essential

Wide experience in Cardiology Relevant Speciality knowledge Experience of teaching students and junior doctors Experience in Clinical Audit Demonstrable track record in coronary angiography and PCI Evidence of independent clinical practice Experienced in making clinical decisions and managing risk Trained in all aspects of Cardiology and be fully trained in coronary intervention

Desirable

Expertise in Cardiac CT (Level 2/3) 1 year NHS experience Interest in TAVI

Management & Administrative Experience Essential

Clinical governance: capacity to be alert to dangers or problems Demonstrates awareness of good decision making and aware of own limitations

Audit: evidence of active participation of audit Attended a management/leadership course

Teaching Experience, Audit and Research Essential

Evidence and experience of supervising and teaching resident doctors and medical students Experience of and commitment to clinical audit and/or Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) Evidence and ability to assess and apply evidence-based research into every day clinical practice Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements relevant to the specialty

Specific teaching qualification Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to under-graduates Attended a recognised teaching training course
