Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:-
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/ herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations; On-Call (when needed), telephone consultations, messages and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional; autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
Providing counselling and health education.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
Delivering Primary Care Standards (Manchester Standards)
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
Provide cover for colleagues. Providing support for Medical Students and GP Trainee when required

Qualifications Essential
Qualifications & Registration Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) Inclusion on the GMC GP Register MRCGP qualification (or equivalent recognised GP qualification) Licence to practise in the UK Right to work in the UK Clinical Experience Completion of GP Specialty Training Experience working in UK primary care/general practice Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions Competence in clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral Experience with safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of current NHS primary care policies and guidelines Understanding of QOF, enhanced services, and clinical governance Good prescribing practice and medicines management knowledge Ability to use electronic clinical systems e.g. EMIS, SystmOne Strong communication and consultation skills Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team Good time management and organisational skills Professional Requirements Commitment to appraisal, revalidation, and continuing professional development Evidence of maintaining professional competence Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and information governance Commitment to equality, diversity, and patient-centred care Personal Attributes Compassionate and professional manner Reliable and adaptable Good interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure Commitment to high-quality patient care Often Listed as Essential (Depending on Practice) Basic life support certification Experience in telephone/video consultations Home visiting capability DBS clearance
