About this role
This is a secure-stable scheduled split shift part time position for a national for hire freight carrier. This is great opportunity for somebody to supplement their income.
Hours of work; Monday to Friday, 4am to 8am and 2pm to 5pm
As a Unionized Dock Worker in Sudbury, Ontario you would manage the day to day loading and unloading of freight by carefully handling our customer's freight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow company procedures for properly and safely loading and unloading freight. Safely
operate a forklift to load and unload freight.
- Maintain a safe work environment by cleaning and removing debris from work area.
- Select and use proper tools as necessary to load and unload freight.
- Count all pieces of freight in loading and unloading
- Review freight bills for special instructions. Check manifests for existing exceptions. Check the
labels and the destination codes on manifests against freight bills.
- Inspect condition/quantity of freight and place notes on manifests.
- Participate in training programs, maintain and update safety skills and knowledge, keep current
with hazardous material training requirements.
- Perform duties in a manner that promotes superior customer service and professionalism within
the Company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prompt, daily attendance is a must.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to read, write and have basic mathematic skills
- Ability to record applicable freight bill information on bill of lading and match information on
freight bill with description on bill of lading.
- Experience in operating a forklift.
- Experience in a warehouse or transportation industry.

Pay: From $21.09 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30.0 per week
