Job description Job responsibilities

We are seeking a proactive and organised Finance Manager to play a key role in the smooth and sustainable running of our NHS GP practice. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing daytoday financial operations, including budgeting, income reconciliation, payroll oversight, NHS claims, and financial reporting, while working closely with the Partners, Practice Manager and wider leadership team. You will support strategic decisionmaking by providing clear financial insight, ensure compliance with NHS and statutory requirements, liaise with external accountants and the ICB, and help develop robust systems and controls. This is a varied and influential role, ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy primary care environment.

Qualifications Essential

High level Numeracy Skills GCSE/NVQ minimum. A level or higher preferred

Desirable Accountancy / Finance qualifications

Experience Essential

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a finance or senior administrative role, preferably within an NHS, primary care or public sector setting, with a strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting and income reconciliation. You will be highly organised, numerate and analytical, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret and present financial information clearly to both clinical and nonclinical colleagues. Strong communication skills, confidence in working with senior stakeholders, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently are essential. You should be comfortable working within regulatory frameworks, committed to confidentiality and good governance, and able to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while also taking ownership and initiative in a fast paced environment.
