Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Haematology & TYA Directorate as a full time Clinical Fellow. We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic individual who is interested in later pursuing Haematology or Oncology speciality training.
The post holder will provide inpatient medical cover for Haematology patients on the Palatine and Withington Wards as well as having opportunities to provide input into the Haematology outpatient service by training and carrying out procedures and also supporting the Haematology Day Unit.

The postholder will work as part of the existing ward team which includes 2 Speciality Training Doctors, 1 Young Adult Oncology Speciality Doctor, 3 Ward Based IMTs and Advanced Care Practitioners. The postholder will also receive training to carry out Haematology procedure lists as well as providing cover for the Haematology Day Unit.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for:o Providing both inpatient and outpatient medical support across the service. There will also be an opportunity to attend Haematology departmental teaching sessions. Flexible working will be required within this role to enable cross cover for inpatient and outpatient areas.o Reviewing all inpatients on Palatine and Withington Wards when allocated to provide inpatient support, including young oncology, lymphoma and medical outliers.o Communicating effectively and collaboratively within broader teams but also with patients and their families to build rapport, especially for patients who are undergoing complex treatments.o The postholder will be flexible, adaptable and able to communicate positively at all times.o Providing information at an appropriate level of understanding to ensure a patient and/or their family/carer is fully informed at all stages of their pathway and will communicate with patients, families and carers with empathy.o The postholder will be expected to have good time management skills and organisational skills to prioritise patient workload.
