About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook you will work alongside the Catering Manager, Deputy, and our dedicated team, providing daily freshly cooked meals for our patients, staff, and visitors.

To support this highly fluid and reactive role you will possess the following core skills.

City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or Level 3 NVQ diploma in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).Knowledge of health and safety and food safety.Excellent Communication Skills and a passion for food and serviceKnowledge of, or a willingness to develop skills in special dietary needs, for example TMF (textured diets)

Person Specification

Experience Essential

* Previous experience of working in a catering environment, with some proven responsibility. * Knowledge of dietary aspects relevant to health care.

Desirable

To be receptive to change and to act as a change agent. Ability to maintain excellent rapport with patients, colleagues and visitors to the Hospice. To be able to facilitate good motivational skills and to maintain professionalism, within a sometimes-pressurised environment. To demonstrate a calm and logical approach to problem solving. To consistently demonstrate a dedicated approach to the quality of patient services in a constructive and efficient way.

Qualifications Essential

* City and Guilds 706/2 or NVQ equivalent. * Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate Level 2

Desirable

* Experience in palliative care/care setting. * Experience in Textured Modified Foods.
