Salary: £60,000 - 85,000 per year
Requirements: Strong commercial backend development experience with Node.js.Experience designing and developing distributed systems, ideally involving APIs, event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.TypeScript experience is highly desirable but not essential.Experience with technologies such as NestJS, Google Cloud, Pub/Sub, MongoDB, Redis, Terraform, GitHub Actions or Datadog would be useful; familiarity with all is not expected.Knowledge of React, Go or Site Reliability Engineering would be beneficial.Interest in exploring AI-assisted development tools while maintaining good engineering standards.Enjoyment of solving technical problems, taking ownership and collaborating with other developers. Responsibilities: Design, develop and operate a platform built around distributed services.Develop backend services primarily with Node.js and TypeScript, with some React frontend development.Own work from initial design and development through deployment and production performance.Develop integrations and services connecting customer platforms with warehouse systems.Improve reliability, monitoring and recovery across distributed systems.Build self-service tools to make integrations easier to configure and manage.Introduce Go where performance requirements justify it.Contribute to infrastructure, architecture and technical decisions. We offer a permanent Senior Developer role based in Southampton, Hampshire, with a salary of up to £85,000 and hybrid working (two office days per week, Tuesday and Thursday). You will join a collaborative, autonomous engineering team developing and operating a highly available integration platform that connects eCommerce systems with warehouse operations in real time. The platform operates at 99.999% availability and has been tested to handle three million orders per day.
