Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year
Requirements: Commercial software engineering experience, ideally at mid-level or above.Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases; PHP experience is beneficial but not essential, and relevant experience in other languages is welcome.Sound software engineering fundamentals, including writing maintainable code, testing and debugging.Practical experience with deployment processes, CI/CD or development automation.Experience with cloud environments, ideally AWS.Practical experience using AI-assisted development and AI-powered automation, with the judgement to assess generated outputs for accuracy and reliability.A practical approach to problem-solving and confidence working across development, databases and technical operations.Ability to take ownership of defined tasks, work independently and collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain software features, enhancements and bug fixes from Jira tickets, clarifying requirements and scoping technical solutions.Review and test manually written and AI-generated code, build knowledge of the existing platform, and maintain engineering standards.Improve the existing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipeline and develop practical support automation to help investigate and resolve customer issues.Write and maintain SQL, manage database schema changes and migrations, and support MySQL database integrity and performance.Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, automate repetitive tasks and support reliable software deployments.Develop AWS monitoring and alerting for availability, resource utilisation and performance, helping identify issues early.Investigate complex technical problems, support customer implementations and coordinate with external infrastructure specialists when needed.
