About this role
Make a measurable difference to attendance and family engagement
We are seeking a skilled and committed Attendance and Family Liaison Officer to lead and strengthen our work on attendance and punctuality. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of academy life, combining strategic oversight, accurate analysis and direct work with students, families, colleagues and external agencies.
You will help identify and overcome barriers to attendance, build trusted relationships with families and ensure that students receive timely, coordinated support. You will also act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, making sound professional judgements and contributing to the academy's wider safeguarding practice.
The role
Provide strategic leadership for approaches that improve attendance and punctuality across the academy.
Analyse attendance information, identify patterns and recommend targeted interventions.
Work closely with students and families to understand and address barriers to regular attendance.
Build effective partnerships with external agencies and the wider community to secure the right support for each child.
Arrange daily cover for absent staff and liaise with supply agencies. The 7.30 am start is essential to enable cover arrangements to be made before the academy day begins.
Work alongside the pastoral and SEND teams to help students attend regularly and achieve well.
Undertake the responsibilities of a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
About you
You will have successful experience of working with children in an education, health or social care environment and a good working knowledge of legislation relating to school attendance. You will be confident communicating with children, families, colleagues and professionals, including where issues are sensitive or challenging.
Highly organised and adaptable, you will be able to manage competing priorities, analyse information, write clear reports and work constructively as part of a team. Above all, you will bring sound judgement, persistence and a genuine commitment to helping every student access education and fulfil their potential.
