An exciting opportunity has arisen at Southampton Solent University for a skilled and motivated Technician (Simulation) to join the Maritime Simulation team within Warsash Maritime School. This role is ideal for an individual with strong technical expertise and a passion for supporting innovative maritime simulation, teaching, research, and commercial activities.
Role Overview
Provide technical support for maritime simulation systems supporting teaching, research, and commercial activities. Maintain, troubleshoot, and update simulator hardware, software, and networks to maximise reliability and minimise downtime. Prepare and support simulation facilities for teaching sessions, pilot training, port studies, and research activities. Work closely with academic staff to support simulation exercises, specialist equipment, and student learning. Support industry engagement through simulator demonstrations and technical support for external clients and partners.
Requirements
Good working knowledge of IT systems, networks, and technical equipment. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting specialist systems and software. Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent industrial experience is desirable.
