Clinical Tutor - Nursing

We’re growing our academic team at the Healthcare Academy of New Zealand (HANZ) and looking for Registered or Enrolled Nurses with a passion for education and experience in one or more of the following areas:

As a Clinical Tutor, you’ll be a key part of delivering the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5), supporting ākonga/learners both in the classroom and on clinical placements. This role involves guiding learners to apply theory in practice, develop essential nursing skills, and achieve the Nursing Council competencies required for registration. You’ll work closely with our Clinical Placement Coordinator and workplace preceptors to ensure a seamless, high-quality learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging teaching in both face-to-face and online formatsFacilitate clinical learning in real-world settings alongside preceptorsSupport ākonga to meet academic and clinical expectationsAssess learner progress and readiness for final Nursing Council examsContribute to curriculum development and continuous programme improvementCollaborate with clinical partners to maintain high placement standard
About You:
You are an enthusiastic, knowledgeable clinician who values education and is ready to invest in developing future nurses. You thrive in diverse teaching environments, are confident communicating across cultures, and understand the importance of both academic and practical learning in preparing students for professional practice.
Required Skills/Experience:
Registered or Enrolled Nurse with a current NZ Practising CertificatePost-registration or postgraduate qualification in nursing or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years’ recent New Zealand nursing/clinical experienceExperience supervising or supporting learners in clinical settingsAdult teaching qualification, highly advantageous or complete a programme within 2 years of employmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to cultural responsiveness and Te Tiriti o WaitangiPrior tertiary or vocational teaching experienceUnderstanding of Kaupapa Māori, mātauranga Māori, and tikangaValid New Zealand driver’s licence Why work with us?
