Shift Maintenance Engineer - Electrical Bias Location: Renfrewshire, near Glasgow Salary: £48,000 per annum Shift Pattern: Three-shift continuous rotation
The Opportunity MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join its Engineering Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer to help maintain the reliability and availability of plant, machinery and equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
The Role Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant, machinery and production equipment.
Diagnosing faults and completing electrical and mechanical breakdown repairs.
Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Responding to equipment failures to minimise production disruption.
Supporting plant reliability, equipment availability and continuous improvement.
Working independently and collaboratively with Engineering and Production teams.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety and following safe working procedures.
Providing overtime cover for holidays and absence, alongside occasional weekend preventative maintenance.
About You We're keen to hear from engineers with a strong electrical foundation and practical experience maintaining industrial equipment.
You'll ideally have:
A recognised engineering apprenticeship or time-served experience in an electrical or electrical-biased discipline.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Practical mechanical maintenance experience, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance.
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Shift Pattern The role operates on a three-shift continuous rotation:
Night shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10pm-6am.
Early shift: Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm.
Back shift: Monday to Thursday, 2pm-10pm; Friday, 2pm-7pm.
Average working hours are 39 hours and 40 minutes per week, with overtime available to support departmental cover and weekend maintenance.
Salary and Benefits £48,000 annual salary.
28 days' annual holiday, increasing with length of service.
