Your new company Hays Senior Finance are supporting a well-established business in the West Midlands as they look to appoint a Management Accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. Our client is a family-run utility and civil engineering contractor who has experienced significant growth in the last decade, achieved through consistently delivering high-quality work on behalf of their strong client base.
Your new role Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will play an important role in delivering accurate and timely financial information across the business. You will provide meaningful insight to senior stakeholders, support effective decision-making and help improve overall business performance and profitability.
Prepare and post month-end journals within agreed deadlinesAssist with the preparation of monthly management accountsComplete bank and balance sheet reconciliationsPrepare and process accruals and prepaymentsInvestigate variances and unusual cost trends, escalating key findings where appropriatePrepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns in line with internal and HMRC deadlinesReconcile financial information against costing reportsReview and validate subcontractor payments before processingSupport purchase ledger and sales ledger activities when requiredProduce ad hoc financial reports and analysis to identify trends, patterns and areas for improvement What you'll need to succeed
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)Experience within a similar management accounting positionBroad understanding of UK accounting standards and practicesFlexible, hands-on approach covering both financial analysis and day-to-day accounting tasksExcellent analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesHigh attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracyStrong Excel skills and experience using accounting software (ideally Sage) What you'll get in return In return, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) and the chance to join a successful, values-led organisation that is going from strength to strength.
