Submarine Safety Engineer / Consultant
Bristol / Hybrid / WFH
£50,000 - £75,000 depending on experience

We are seeking motivated Safety Engineers, Submarine Safety Consultants, and Defence Safety Specialists to join growing project teams supporting the UK Defence Nuclear Enterprise.
The role involves delivering high-quality safety consultancy services across complex submarine and defence programmes, helping customers manage risk, maintain compliance, and develop robust safety cases.

Developing and delivering safety cases and safety documentationFacilitating HAZID workshops and risk assessmentsSupporting Defence Nuclear and Submarine programmesAdvising clients on safety regulations and complianceConducting hazard and risk analysis activitiesSupporting delivery of multiple technical projectsBuilding strong customer and stakeholder relationships Experience Required
Previous experience working within an engineering consultancy environmentExperience supporting UK Submarine or Defence programmesKnowledge of relevant defence safety regulations and standards, including: Defence Safety Authority (DSA)Defence Nuclear Safety RegulationsNaval Authority Certification Experience producing safety artefacts, including: HAZID facilitationRisk assessmentsSafety case development Ability to manage and deliver complex technical projects Highly Desirable Experience
Nuclear SQEPExperience with safety and risk analysis techniques such as: SWIFTHAZOPFMECAFTALOPA Independent Safety Auditor or Independent Safety Advisor experienceChartered Engineer status (or working towards)Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering disciplineMembership of a relevant professional institution Skills & Attributes
Strong communication and technical writing skillsProfessional and adaptable approachAbility to work independently and within flexible teamsWell-organised with strong workload management skillsEligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (mandatory) Salary & Benefits
