Accounts Assistant
Location: Cambridge Contract: Full-Time, 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Salary: Competitive + Benefits Hybrid Working Available upon Probation
We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our client's finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with finance administration or accounting experience who is looking to develop their skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, cashbook management, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
Processing and validating supplier invoicesReconciling supplier statements and resolving queriesReviewing employee expenses and company card submissionsMaintaining supplier records and verifying bank detailsEnsuring accurate VAT coding and invoice allocationManaging supplier and internal finance queries Sales Ledger
Raising accurate sales invoicesMaintaining customer account recordsSupporting credit control activitiesEnsuring VAT compliance and ledger accuracyAssisting with month-end sales ledger processes Finance Operations
Processing payments and cash receiptsPerforming bank reconciliationsSupporting month-end and year-end activitiesMaintaining financial records and documentationAssisting with fixed asset administrationSupporting audits and compliance requirements About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar roleStrong purchase ledger and sales ledger knowledgeExcellent attention to detail and accuracyGood organisational and time management skillsStrong communication and relationship-building abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft OfficeExperience using finance or ERP systems Desirable
Knowledge of VAT principlesExperience supporting auditsExposure to multi-currency or international finance operationsStudying towards, or interested in studying, AAT or a similar accounting qualification What's On Offer?
