The Opportunity: Shape the Future of Advanced Manufacturing
Are you an executive engineering leader ready to take full operational ownership of a world-class manufacturing facility? Plexus is evolving its Oradea facility into a fully connected, intelligent factory. As Engineering Director, you will serve as the executive authority across all primary technical disciplines—Test, Industrial, Process, Automation, and Product Engineering. This is not a maintenance role; it is a strategic mandate. You will bridge high-level corporate innovation with site-level execution, driving multi-million-dollar technology roadmaps, scaling automation, and setting the operational benchmark for regional manufacturing.
How You Will Drive Impact
• Architect the Technology Roadmap: Own the end-to-end engineering strategy across five critical disciplines. Drive process capability, automate production workflows, and lead site-wide implementations for complex products. • Define Operational Precision: Serve as the ultimate subject matter expert on standard work and process optimization. Deploy performance systems that lower cycle times, maximize efficiency, and safeguard product quality. • Lead Regional Escalations & Resolution: Act as the primary technical authority for site engineering. Drive root-cause analyses and deploy systemic, scalable solutions across our global network. • Build a High-Performance Engineering Legacy: Directly execute Plexus’ Best People strategy. Mentor high-potential managers, build robust succession pipelines, and champion a culture of continuous technical growth.
The Profile We Are Looking For
We are seeking a senior technical leader with a track record of driving change in complex, high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Senior Leadership Experience: 10+ years in progressive engineering roles, with direct executive or director-level oversight in advanced EMS or high-tech manufacturing. • Multi-Disciplinary Expertise: Proven ability to manage across Process, Test, Automation, and Industrial engineering teams simultaneously. • High-Precision Standards: Hands-on leadership within strictly regulated sectors (Medical/FDA, Aerospace/AS9100, Telecom, or Automotive). • Operational Mastery: Strong command of Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt certification highly valued) and structured problem-solving frameworks. • Strategic Influence: Exceptional executive presence, capable of aligning internal stakeholders, global customers, and site operations around a shared vision.
