The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher under the supervision of Professor Guillaume Durandau. The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the predictive simulation of walking in children with cerebral palsy. The project aims to develop and apply advanced neuromusculoskeletal models, machine learning methods, and data-driven approaches to better understand human movement and improve the prediction of gait impairments and rehabilitation outcomes. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work at the intersection of biomechanics, neuromechanics, rehabilitation, pediatrics, and artificial intelligence, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of researchers and clinicians.
Position Summary:
• Lead and contribute to research activities related to the predictive simulation of walking in children with cerebral palsy
• Develop and implement neuromusculoskeletal models and computational simulations of human movement
• Apply machine learning and data-driven approaches to biomechanical and clinical datasets
• Design, implement, and refine research methodologies for movement analysis and predictive modeling
• Analyze and interpret experimental and simulation data related to gait and rehabilitation outcomes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including researchers, engineers, clinicians, and rehabilitation specialists
• Contribute to scholarly publications, conference presentations, technical reports, and knowledge mobilization activities
• Mentor and support undergraduate and graduate students participating in the research program
• Participate in research group meetings and contribute to collaborative scientific initiatives
• Assist with project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and research dissemination activities
Qualifications:
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, completed within the past five (5) years
• Strong background in biomechanics, human movement analysis, neuromusculoskeletal modeling, or computational simulation
• Experience with machine learning, data-driven modeling, artificial intelligence, and quantitative data analysis
• Knowledge of rehabilitation research and an interest in pediatric populations, particularly children with cerebral palsy, is considered an asset
