Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement: This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field. Please refer to the Office of Personnel Management Individual Occupational Requirements for possible ways to meet the basic requirements. Basic Requirement Fire Protection Engineer 0804 series: Fire Protection Engineering Series 0804 (opm.gov) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in reviewing designs, plans and specifications for fire protection systems; conducting pre-design surveys to obtain data for Fire Protection systems; and/or participating in the testing of Fire Protection systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, active, valid and unrestricted license as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States.

Major DutiesLeads fire safety efforts by setting standards, guiding projects, and ensuring buildings meet safety requirements from planning through completion.Reviews designs and inspections to identify fire risks and directs fixes to keep facilities safe.Provides expert advice on fire safety rules and works with engineers and partners to apply them correctly.Consults with teams and customers to solve fire safety issues during design and construction.Inspects sites and systems to confirm proper installation and operation of fire protection features.
