Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Materials & Procurement Engineer to join our head office in Abu Dhabi. As part of the Procurement Department, this role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials and subcontractors to support major construction projects. The position plays a critical role in ensuring material availability, maintaining compliance with project specifications, and supporting efficient site execution through accurate planning, vendor coordination, and documentation.
The Materials & Procurement Engineer reports to the Procurement Manager and works closely with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal technical functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Procurement Planning & Strategy
Prepare project-specific procurement plans aligned with construction schedulesCoordinate with site teams to ensure accurate material forecastsIdentify material requirements and ensure alignment with project specificationsSupplier Sourcing & Evaluation
Source qualified suppliers and subcontractorsObtain and evaluate quotations, both technical and commercialDevelop comparison sheets and support contract award recommendationsUpdate and maintain the approved vendor databaseMaterial Submittals & Approvals
Prepare and coordinate material submittalsFollow up on consultant comments and approval cyclesEnsure all materials comply with specifications, BOQs, drawings, and MIRsContracting & Negotiation
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery conditionsSupport contract issuance in coordination with internal stakeholdersCoordination & Communication
Work closely with site teams for material needs and consumption trackingResolve delivery, quality, or supplier performance issuesLiaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departmentsMonitoring & Performance Tracking
Track material delivery schedules and consumptionMonitor supplier and subcontractor performanceSupport timely procurement to avoid site delays Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related fieldCivil Engineering preferred; Architecture acceptable8–12 years of experience in procurement and materials management within contracting companiesStrong understanding of procurement processes and ERP or procurement systemsAbility to prepare RFQs, comparison sheets, and contractsExperience with project specifications, BOQs, and drawingsStrong technical and commercial evaluation skillsExcellent negotiation, communication, and organizational abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlinesNice to Have
Experience in the UAE construction marketExperience with building and villa compound projectsBackground with tier one construction contractors within the UAE.
