About this role
As we further expand into Japan, we're looking for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of engineering and design delivery across our Japan data centre projects. You'll work closely with our Chief Development Officer and project teams to bring NEXTDC's design standards to life locally, covering everything from site feasibility through to construction, commissioning and handover.
This is a hands on, individual contributor role with regular time on project sites, ideal for someone who wants deep technical ownership rather than a purely oversight function.
Your responsibilities will include:
Implementing and adapting NEXTDC's Engineering & Design standards for Japan projects, including reviewing and approving any requested deviationsHands on engineering across all project stages, from feasibility and site appraisal through to detailed design and tender specifications, covering both mechanical and electrical servicesAdapting design scopes, briefs and executive summaries for project specific appointments, and engaging and managing design consultantsEnsuring designs comply with Japanese laws and codes (Building Standards Act, Fire Service Act, Electricity Business Act) and coordinating with authorities and utility providersManaging and witnessing commissioning on site, working alongside the independent commissioning agentProviding customer engineering support and managing Project Board submissions, while collaborating with our Engineering & Design Centre of Excellence to drive standardisationThis opportunity will see you working with world leaders in our space. 本ポジションは、プロジェクトサイトへの定期的な訪問を伴う、実務を中心とした個人貢献型者（IC）のポジションであり、単なる監督業務ではなく、技術面で深く責任を持って取り組みたい方に適した職務です。
主な職務内容:
日本のプロジェクト向けにNEXTDCのエンジニアリング・設計基準を導入・適用し、当社基準から逸脱する要望についてレビューおよび承認を担当フィージビリティ・スタディ、候補地の評価から詳細設計、入札仕様書の作成まで、機械設備・電気設備の両分野にわたりプロジェクトの全段階で実務的なエンジニアリングを担当プロジェクトごとの案件に合わせた設計スコープの策定、設計要件書の作成、エグゼクティブサマリーの調整、並びに設計コンサルタントの選定・マネジメントを担当建築基準法、消防法、電気事業法などの日本の法令・規制に対する設計の適合を確保し、行政機関や電力・インフラ事業者との調整を担当独立コミッショニングエージェントと連携し、現地での試運転の管理・立会いを担当顧客に対するエンジニアリング支援業務の提供、プロジェクトボードメンバーへの提出物の管理、および標準化推進のためのエンジニアリング＆デザイン・センター・オブ・エクセレンス（CoE）との連携を担当このポジションでは、業界のグローバルリーダーとともに働く機会が得られます。ぜひNEXTDCの日本での挑戦に加わり、成功の一翼を担ってください。なお、現在は直接応募のみ受け付けており、人材紹介会社を通じた応募は受け付けておりません。
Extensive hands on experience delivering data centre projects, across all stages of mission critical, 24/7 facilitiesKnowledge of Japanese codes, standards and approval processes for data centre design and constructionExperience working with Japanese design consultants, contractors and authorities having jurisdictionStrong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate engineering principles clearly and manage detail heavy deliverablesNative level Japanese communication skills (written and verbal) and business level EnglishProfessional Engineer registration (Gijutsushi) or equivalent desirableContact us today to find out more about the local opportunities we have available.
