About this role
This is a permanent, part-time-time position anticipated to work approximately 20 hours per week, with a rotating schedule between the hours of 5:00 am and 6:30 pm with varied days of the week, including weekends and holidays.
To serve prepared foods to residents, personnel and guests of the Minnesota Veterans Home – Hastings. To prepare salads, nourishments, and carry out lunches; to set-up for special functions; to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Materials and methods used in preparing food Care and use of cooking utensils and equipment. Food values and nutrition
Ability to:
Perform simple cooking on large scale Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks Follow oral and written instructions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience prepping, plating, and serving food Knowledge of basic sanitation standards Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality
Physical Requirements
Perform a variety of movements throughout the day such as walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, carrying, reaching, grasping, pushing and pulling

This position requires successful completion of the following:
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment Employment reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s)
