Job Overview We are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a friendly, established accountancy practice based in Altrincham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to continue developing their career within a supportive, close-knit team.
The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio of clients across a range of sectors and business structures, with plenty of opportunity to take ownership of your work and develop your technical and client-facing skills.
The ideal candidate will be approachable, organised and keen to progress within accountancy, while contributing positively to the wider team.
Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of clients, including day-to-day communication via email and telephone.Preparing accounts and financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.Preparing and submitting VAT returns and supporting clients with MTD ITSA requirements.Preparing self-assessment tax returns for clients.Building strong, professional relationships with clients and providing a high level of service.Taking ownership of deadlines and managing a varied workload effectively.Supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment.Assisting with queries and providing guidance to clients where appropriate.
Requirements At least 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice, with over 5 years' experience preferred.Experience using accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks.Experience with TaxCalc is desirable, but not essential.Good working knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and personal tax.Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.A professional and personable approach to client relationships.Experience supporting or mentoring junior members of a team would be advantageous.AAT, ACCA or another relevant qualification is preferred, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a small, collaborative team.
