Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a leading manufacturing business in the Leeds area to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for driving and continuously improving the site’s health, safety, process safety and environmental performance within a high-hazard manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will provide both strategic and operational HSE leadership, lead a small team and play a key role in developing a proactive safety culture across the site.
Key responsibilities: Lead the site’s HSE strategy and continuous improvement activityEnsure compliance with COMAH regulations and process safety requirementsManage major accident hazard risk and maintain the site Safety ReportLead HAZOP, LOPA, risk assessment and Management of Change activitiesDrive compliance with relevant legislation including DSEAR, COSHH, PUWER and LOLERManage ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systemsLead environmental compliance, permitting, emissions monitoring and sustainability initiativesDevelop emergency response and business continuity arrangementsLead internal and external audits, investigations and corrective action programmesBuild strong relationships with senior stakeholders, regulators and operational teamsLead, coach and develop the HSE team About you: We are looking for an experienced HSE professional with a strong background within a COMAH-regulated or high-hazard manufacturing environment. You will have excellent knowledge of process safety, UK HSE legislation and environmental compliance, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or similar high-risk industries would be highly advantageous.
A NEBOSH Diploma, equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification or relevant degree is essential.
