My client a financial services company are currently looking for a Finance senior to join their busy team. The role offers a hands-on experience with exposure to various businesses and opportunities for career development as the group expands.
Day-to-day of the role:
Month End and Management Accounts:
Support month-end close activities, prepare journals for accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.
Complete monthly intercompany reconciliations and post journals across group entities.
Review trade debtor and creditor positions, highlighting overdue balances or issues for follow-up.
Support the preparation of quarterly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and related analysis.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and wider business planning activities.
Monitor expenditure against budget and regularly update budget holders.
Year End, Compliance, and Controls:
Prepare year-end working papers and schedules for external accountants.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and support wider statutory compliance.
Maintain effective financial controls, help document and improve finance processes.
Review data entered into the accounting system by junior team members to ensure accuracy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Approximately 2-3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
Studying towards AAT, ACCA, or CIMA, or intending to begin a professional qualification.
Experience in preparing management/statutory accounts and VAT returns.
Proficiency in using Xero or a similar accounting package.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in Excel and Outlook.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Confident communicator, able to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
A proactive, positive, and ambitious approach.
