Data & Digital Solicitor (3+ years') – Aberdeen
A highly regarded law firm is looking to recruit a Data & Digital Solicitor to join its team in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with experience in data protection, privacy and commercial law to advise on complex matters for a diverse client base across a range of sectors.
The Role
The role will involve a broad range of data protection and digital advisory work, including data subject access requests (DSARs), privacy compliance and data rights management.
Responsibilities will include:
Advising clients on UK GDPR, EU GDPR, PECR and wider data protection and privacy mattersManaging complex DSARs and data subject rights requests, including scoping, review, redaction and disclosureSupporting clients with privacy compliance projects, data mapping, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), international data transfers and incident responseDrafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including data processing and data sharing agreementsAdvising on IT, digital and intellectual property mattersBuilding strong client relationships and delivering practical, commercially focused adviceWorking collaboratively with colleagues across different practice areas to deliver integrated client solutionsContributing to client training, business development and the continued development of the practice About You
The successful candidate will have:
At least 3 years' PQE, with experience in data protection, privacy and information lawHands-on experience advising on DSARs and wider data subject rights, ideally involving complex or high-volume requestsA strong understanding of UK GDPR, EU GDPR and PECRExperience drafting commercial contracts and advising on data and digital mattersExcellent communication and client relationship management skillsA pragmatic, commercially minded approach, with the ability to manage complex projects and advise on risk Experience with privacy technology, AI governance, international data transfers or large-scale DSAR programmes would be advantageous.
