Are you a newly qualified Solicitor or a CILEX Lawyer with litigation practice rights looking to develop your career in contentious property law?
My client is seeking a motivated and ambitious legal professional to join their busy and highly regarded Landlord & Tenant Litigation Department in East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing a varied caseload while receiving ongoing support, training, and supervision from experienced practitioners.
The department acts for a diverse client base, including private landlords, managing agents, and insurance companies, handling everything from possession proceedings through to defended and more complex landlord and tenant disputes.
The Opportunity
Working alongside experienced fee earners and supported by dedicated case handlers and paralegals, you will play a key role in progressing a wide range of landlord and tenant litigation matters.
This position is ideally suited to a Junior Solicitor, Newly Qualified Solicitor, or CILEX Lawyer who is eager to build their litigation expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Managing fee-earning work under appropriate supervisionAssisting with defended and complex landlord and tenant disputesDrafting legal documents, applications, pleadings, and correspondenceEnsuring compliance with court directions, orders, and deadlinesProgressing cases through to conclusion with increasing autonomyLiaising with clients, defendants, solicitors, courts, and managing agentsProviding regular updates and excellent client serviceIssuing possession claims via the Possession Claims Online systemPreparing possession, accelerated possession, and warrant applicationsDrafting notices seeking possessionPreparing instructions for advocates and counselMaintaining accurate case management records and reporting systemsSupporting the wider team with additional litigation-related tasks About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and keen to develop their legal career.
You will have:
Qualified Solicitor status (NQ or Junior level), orCILEX qualification with litigation practice rightsA good understanding of landlord and tenant law (training can be provided for candidates without direct L&T experience)Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and litigation processesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and organisational abilitiesGood IT and case management skillsThe confidence to communicate professionally with clients and third partiesThe ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlinesA proactive, adaptable, and team-oriented approachA commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and client care Why Join my client?
