Service Charge Accountant
The role Our client, a well-established property management company, is looking for a Service Charge Accountant to look after the service charge accounts across its managed portfolio. You'll own the full cycle, from budgets and expenditure monitoring through to reconciliations and year-end accounts. You'll work closely with property managers, clients and contractors to keep financial control clear and transparent.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and manage service charge budgets and forecasts across a mixed portfolioProduce regular financial reports and reconciliationsPrepare year-end service charge accounts and supporting schedulesPost and monitor service charge income and expenditure, making sure invoicing and recovery are on timeReconcile supplier invoices and process creditor paymentsInvestigate and resolve differences between budgeted and actual spendAct as the go-to contact for property managers, clients, contractors and suppliers on charges and queriesKeep accurate records and supporting documents to audit standardSupport audit preparation and respond to auditor queriesHelp improve processes to strengthen financial controls and efficiency What you'll bring
Proven experience in service charge accounting or property management financeStrong grasp of accounting principles, reconciliations and budgetingConfident with accounting software and Excel, and able to produce clear financial reportsExcellent attention to detail and numerical accuracyStrong communication skills, comfortable with internal teams, clients and suppliersWell organised, able to manage multiple accounts and deadlines Desirable
AAT, or part-qualified or qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMAExperience with property management or service charge systems The environment You'll join a collaborative property management team that holds itself to high standards of financial administration. You'll work closely with property managers and external contractors to make sure service charge funds are accurately recovered and reported.
This is an office based role.
