About the Role
Our Emergency & Critical Care Service manages a diverse and challenging caseload, providing urgent and life-saving care for critically ill and injured patients 24 hours a day.
Working alongside Emergency Veterinarians, Criticalists, Specialists, and highly skilled nursing teams, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced and rewarding referral environment.
In This Role You Will:
Perform rapid patient assessment, triage, and ongoing monitoring of emergency and critical care patientsDeliver advanced nursing care to unstable, hospitalised, and critically ill patients requiring intensive supportAdminister blood products, CRIs, advanced analgesia protocols, and emergency medicationsAssist with emergency procedures, including CPR, intubation, thoracocentesis, central line placement, mechanical ventilation, and advanced patient monitoringManage emergency admissions, patient stabilisation, and the coordination of critical patient workflowsWork closely with Emergency Veterinarians, Criticalists, Specialists, and referring veterinarians to ensure seamless patient careMaintain accurate medical records and uphold the highest standards of clinical nursing practiceContribute to a supportive culture focused on collaboration, learning, and clinical excellenceAbout You
You are a qualified Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing exceptional care to emergency and critical care patients.
You enjoy learning, developing your clinical skills, and working collaboratively with a team that manages some of the most rewarding and challenging cases in veterinary medicine.
You Will Bring:
Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)Previous Emergency & Critical Care and/or Referral Hospital nursing experienceStrong patient assessment, monitoring, and clinical reasoning skillsExperience managing critical patients and advanced nursing treatmentsConfidence working in emergency situations and prioritising competing caseload demandsExcellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamStrong organisational and prioritisation skills in a busy referral environmentA commitment to exceptional patient care and high clinical standardsThis role would suit a nurse who enjoys critical thinking, taking ownership of their patients, and working collaboratively with clinicians to achieve the best possible outcomes.
