As a Vet you will be accountable for patient care within the clinic, whilst ensuring we deliver exceptional care, always there for our clients, patients and colleagues whilst maintaining the highest levels of regulatory and operational standards and compliance.Veterinary Surgeon – Medivet Canonbury, Islington
Part-time 50–75% | Salary up to £65,000 FTE, pro rata depending on experience We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and growing team at Medivet Canonbury, in the heart of Islington. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in small animal practice and a particular interest in one of the following areas: Small Animal Medicine, Feline Medicine, Dermatology or Ophthalmology. The position would also be well suited to someone who holds, is working towards, or would like to pursue a relevant postgraduate certificate in their chosen area of interest. Canonbury is an established and friendly first-opinion practice with a loyal client base and a varied caseload. We are currently a team of three vets, supported by two qualified nurses, two student veterinary nurses and three receptionists, creating a close-knit and collaborative environment. Within the veterinary team, one of our vets holds a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery, while another is currently working towards a certificate in Diagnostic Imaging, with a particular interest in cardiology. Our complementary clinical interests create plenty of opportunities for case discussion, collaboration and continued professional development. The practice is well equipped, with in-house laboratory facilities, digital radiography and ultrasound, supporting a wide range of diagnostic investigations and allowing us to work up many cases in-house. We continue to invest in our equipment and develop the clinical services available at Canonbury. Importantly, this is a non-surgical position. No surgical experience is required, and no routine surgery will be involved in your Canonbury shifts. The role will focus on consultations, medical case management and diagnostic work-ups, making it particularly suitable for a clinician who would like to concentrate on their chosen clinical interest. We are looking for someone who enjoys providing high-quality first-opinion care, investigating cases thoroughly and building strong relationships with clients and their pets. There will be scope to develop your own clinical interests and contribute to the continued development of the services we offer at Canonbury. The position is available at 50–75% of full-time hours, with some flexibility around the working pattern. As part of the role, there will be a requirement to undertake some weekend shifts at one of our hospital practices (approximately 1 in 12 or 1 in 9 weekends), depending on the contracted hours. Located on Essex Road in Islington, Canonbury has excellent transport links and benefits from close collaboration with other practices and hospitals across the wider Medivet network. If you are an experienced vet looking for a role where you can focus on consultations and medical case management without a routine surgical rota, while developing your own area of clinical interest, we would love to hear from you.
