Ethos Classical is a tuition-free public charter school committed to providing scholars with a safe, joyful, and rigorous education. Our Grade 8 team prepares scholars for a successful transition to high school through strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and high expectations.
Position Overview
The Grade 8 Science Teacher leads rigorous, inquiry-based instruction in physical science. This teacher helps scholars investigate scientific questions, analyze data, and use evidence to explain how the world works.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver Science instruction aligned with Georgia standards.
• Build scholars’ understanding of matter, energy, forces, and motion.
• Design investigations and hands-on learning experiences that develop scientific reasoning.
• Teach scholars to analyze data, construct explanations, and support claims with evidence.
• Establish and maintain safe procedures for laboratory activities, equipment, and materials.
• Integrate scientific reading, writing, mathematics, and discussion into instruction.
• Use assessments and scholar work to adjust instruction and provide targeted support.
• Establish a safe, joyful classroom with clear routines and high expectations.
• Communicate regularly with families about scholar progress.
• Collaborate with specialized services staff to implement scholar accommodations and supports.
• Participate in coaching, professional development, and Grade 8 team planning.
• Reinforce the study habits, independence, and self-advocacy scholars need for high school.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Georgia teaching certification appropriate to the assignment strongly recommended.
• Strong knowledge of physical science and inquiry-based instruction.
• Middle school teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to manage laboratory activities safely and effectively.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
