In A Typical Day You Will:
• Install and configure Linux hosts (generally, but not limited to, Scientific Linux)
• Automate common tasks using Perl, Bash, etc
• Architects, deploys and manages virtualization solutions through VMware, Xen, Amazon VC2 and other virtualization technologies
• Develops capacity/datacenter plans using storage/ backup tools such as NetBackup, NetApp and EMC
• Works on Cloud solutions
• Diagnoses and troubleshoot issues in the platform
• Troubleshoot performance issues within the application, web and database tiers
• Resolve escalations received through ticketing system, emails, and/or phone calls in a timely manner
• 3+ years of experience in Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills• 3+ years of experience working with a NOC environment. • Very strong Linux/Unix administration & troubleshooting skills• TCP/IP and basic networking• Configuring Apache and Tomcat servers• Create and debug MySQL queries• Understanding of DNS and how to configure/ troubleshoot it• Good verbal and written communication skills• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment
