Infrastructure, Planning & Transportation: Learn the ins and outs of planning, development, and delivery of infrastructure and transportation initiatives that strengthen New York City's built environment
Real Estate, Asset Management, & Investment: Champion the stewardship, investment, and strategic use of real estate assets to advance NYCEDC's mission
Innovation, Research, and Economic Opportunity: Assess emerging trends, inform policy and investment decisions, and develop strategies that drive inclusive economic growth.
Community Engagement and Partnerships: Help connect NYCEDC's work with communities, government partners, industry organizations, and business leaders. across the five boroughs
Internal Business Operations & Administration: Manage the day-to-day mechanics of our business, building processes and maximizing efficiencies
Ideal candidates will have previous industry experience in at least one of the following areas:
Real Estate Development: Experience working with real estate development projects, including urban renewal, mixed-use projects, or affordable housing development.
Urban Planning: Experience in zoning, land use policies, and infrastructure planning.
Transportation Planning: Experience in transportation infrastructure planning, project development, and managing public transportation systems.
Public-Private Partnerships: Experience negotiating and managing public-private partnerships for development projects.
Community or Economic Development: Working with stakeholders to support job creation, small businesses, or neighborhood revitalization
Project Management: Overseeing cross-functional initiatives, especially within public sector, real estate, or infrastructure spaces
Program Eligibility:
5+ years of professional experience in a field related to real estate development, real estate finance, urban planning, environmental sustainability practices, smart city initiatives, transportation planning, and public-private partnerships.
Previously employed and out of the full-time workforce for at least 18 consecutive months.
Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week) at NYCEDC’s offices for the entirety of the 6-month program.
Ability to travel as needed (across the five boroughs of New York City) and attend evening and occasional weekend meetings.
