*Overview*
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented *Ultrasound Technologist* to support our Pain Management Clinic and assist physicians during ultrasound-guided nerve block and other interventional pain procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment, providing real-time imaging support during procedures, preparing patients and equipment, and maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.
This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, excellent patient-care abilities, and a thorough understanding of privacy, documentation, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
*Responsibilities*
* Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to provide high-quality, real-time imaging during nerve blocks and other ultrasound-guided pain procedures. * Assist the physician with ultrasound-guided procedures by positioning patients, preparing the treatment area, optimizing ultrasound images, and providing imaging support throughout the procedure. * Identify and appropriately visualize relevant anatomical structures under the direction of the treating physician. * Prepare examination and procedure rooms, including ensuring that ultrasound equipment, supplies, and necessary clinical materials are available and properly maintained. * Follow appropriate infection prevention and control procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting ultrasound equipment and accessories according to clinic protocols and manufacturer recommendations. * Verify patient identification and assist with appropriate pre-procedure preparation and documentation. * Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of procedures, ultrasound findings/images as applicable, patient information, and other required clinical records. * Ensure documentation is completed in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations, professional standards, privacy legislation, and clinic policies. * Maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient health information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements. * Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, administrative staff, and patients to support safe and efficient clinical operations. * Monitor equipment performance and promptly report equipment issues, maintenance requirements, or safety concerns. * Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory of ultrasound supplies and procedure-related materials. * Participate in quality assurance, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives within the clinic. * Perform other related clinical and administrative duties as required.
*Qualifications*
* Diploma or degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Ultrasound Technology, or a related field. * Current certification/registration with the applicable professional or regulatory body, where required. * Previous experience in ultrasound imaging, preferably in an interventional, pain management, musculoskeletal, or outpatient clinical setting is an asset. * Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided injections or nerve block procedures is an asset. * Strong knowledge of ultrasound equipment, imaging techniques, anatomy, and infection prevention practices. * Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinical environment. * Demonstrated understanding of patient privacy, confidentiality, and healthcare documentation requirements. * Current CPR/BLS certification, where required.
*Working Environment*
This position is based in an outpatient Pain Management Clinic and involves direct patient interaction and close collaboration with physicians during interventional procedures. The technologist must be comfortable working in a clinical procedure environment and maintaining a high standard of patient safety, professionalism, and confidentiality.
