Salary: £60,000 - 95,000 per year
Requirements: Substantial experience leading an internal IT function in a growing organisation of similar or larger size, ideally in engineering, technology or manufacturingStrong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender and Conditional Access, plus Mac management in a hybrid identity environmentExperience managing a managed service provider and other IT suppliers, including service levels, reviews and renewalsA track record of running IT as a responsive, visible and pragmatic service that people value, with a bias toward fixing thingsExperience delivering IT projects and change alongside business-as-usual, and managing an IT budget and delivery planUnderstanding of security controls and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF as they apply to a corporate IT estateAbility to lead, coach and develop a small team, and work alongside highly technical engineering colleagues who manage their own toolingStrong communication skills, including the ability to explain technology choices and trade-offs to senior leaders in business termsExperience in a company that has grown quickly or undergone significant change would be helpfulExperience in high-trust, regulated or mission-critical environments would be valuable Responsibilities: Lead and develop our in-house IT team, set priorities and standards, and ensure people across the business receive fast, effective supportOwn our corporate IT estate end to end, including Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, Windows and Mac endpoints, networks, telephony, meeting-room AV and office ITDefine how support requests are routed, escalated and measured across our team and managed service provider; set service levels and hold suppliers accountableManage the day-to-day performance of our managed service provider and other IT suppliers, including service reviews, escalations and operational contract renewalsManage and deliver our IT operational and project budgets, own the 12-month IT delivery plan and contribute to our longer-term technology roadmapProtect our data assets, people and associated third parties from cyber attacksEnsure our interactions with the outside world, particularly customers, reflect our values and position as a trusted, professional businessOwn and continually improve our endpoint and identity platforms, including device management, endpoint protection, secure remote access, privilege management and Mac managementWork with business systems owners across areas including ERP, Jira, delivery and HR tools, and Microsoft 365 automation to ensure configuration, integration and access are properly managedContribute to security assurance and certification, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, alongside our Security & Compliance ManagerOwn joiners, movers and leavers, licensing, asset management and device lifecycle, as well as the related policies and processesReport clearly to senior leadership on service, risk, cost and progress in business terms Technologies: ERPSupportJIRAMicrosoft 365PLCSecurityWindowsOffice 365Cloud More:

We are seeking a Head of IT to lead our internal IT function as we grow. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role and our senior full-time IT position, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. You will lead a small in-house team, direct our managed service provider and work with colleagues across the business. Our more than 200 employees are based across our offices, and most are engineers. This is a corporate IT role; our software and systems engineering teams manage their own development tooling and product security. The role is primarily based at our Bristol office, with occasional travel to Cardiff and Midsomer Norton and flexibility for hybrid working.
