About this role

AHRI is seeking one (1) dynamic Enrolled Research Nurse to support the implementation of the ATTIS study, including conducting household visits in the King Cetshwayo and uMkhanyakude Districts.

The incumbent will provide clinical care to research participants and ensure that clinical governance standards are maintained in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Responsibilities will also include obtaining informed consent, collecting and maintaining high-quality data, and ensuring compliance with study protocols.

The role requires sound technical knowledge of clinical research, a systematic and efficient approach to work, and the ability to learn, adapt and manage multiple tasks effectively. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Department of Health (DoH) facilities, communities and other organisations involved in participant recruitment.

Overview of duties

• Implementation of the ATTIS protocols. • Compliance with research procedures. • Obtaining informed consent from participants enrolling in the study. • Collection of specimens from research participants. • Work in a multidisciplinary team and carry out any other duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two-year enrolled nursing certificate. • Current registration with SANC as a registered nurse. • Valid driver's licence.

Minimum Experience

• Two (2) years recognizable nursing experience after registration as an enrolled nurse with SANC, of which at least one (1) year must be experience working in a field-based data collection project. • Experience in TB/HIV care. • Experience with phlebotomy. • Familiarity with clinical research data collection using electronic data entry systems. • Clinical research experience.

Skills Required

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and isiZulu. • Accuracy and precision. • High computer literacy (MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Report writing. • Must be able to work under pressure.
